Mom and my Grandma, the matriarch (Pauline McDougal
and Pearl Jones)

 

 

Grandma has had hummingbird feeders outside her
windows as long as I can remember, and that's about
45 years worth. They are part of the family...

 

 

According to my 38-year old book, Birds of North America,
Guide to Field Identification, this is a Black-chinned
Hummingbird.

On returning home to Oregon, Mt Shasta in Northen California.
If you ever see it without cloud cover - you're lucky.

 

 

A dragon sculpture along Interstate 5 near Yreka, CA. I found that
the dragon's name is Penelope, purchased by the city of Yreka from
artist Ralph Starritt. There's another metal sculpture by the same artist
just south of Yreka of a cow, it's name is Moodonna.
